CONTAINER BOX
WORLD NEWS
In Taichung, there is a container paradise of interlocking boxes and bridges spanning over half an acre, and it truly is an amazing architectural feat. The name of the restaurant is How Wow Cafe' (好喔), and they really pay attention to every detail in design. With picturesque windows surrounding every container, it's easy to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, watching the leaves change color during winter months, and the charming landscape below.
As for the inside, there is ample seating for a large number of guests, and it really has a basic, ageless feeling, which is perfect for this style of restaurant. It really gives off a young, modern vibe.
In addition, their menu has a wide assortment of foods, both American and Chinese, and at very reasonable prices. So, if you're looking to spend an afternoon in a cargo-like atmosphere, then come over and visit the How Wow Cafe' (好喔).
Everything about Owl Burger is just cool. Such as the Mad Max-type atmosphere, the outdoor seating and lighting, the awesome food, and most especially, the laid back attitude of the staff.
If you're looking for some place to hang out for a few hours and feast on delicious food, then head out to the Owl Burger. It's the coolest place in town.
Baimo Yakitori (白墨) is an Izakaya Container Box restaurant located in the Linkou District in Taipei City. Adjacent to a small container box food court, it's a great spot for the late-night crowd.
For those who are unfamiliar with this type of food, an Izakaya Restaurant is a type of Japanese bar in which a variety of small, typically inexpensive, dishes and snacks are served to accompany the alcoholic drinks. So, it's a great place to go with a large group of friends.
Little Rice House (小飯之家) is wonderful place to try eat some delicious food and hang out with friends. They have friendly service and we highly recommend this shop.
We will be writing more about this shop and their Container Box within the next couple of days.

Wandering aimlessly through Taoyuan one rainy afternoon, we discovered an authentic American Style Container Box Bar and Grill. Roadies (路帝斯美式餐廳) has traditional American staples such as tacos, quesadillas, and pizza, as well as burgers and sandwiches.

The other day, we visited one of the best container barbecue restaurants in Taichung. Built in a container box motif, Longmen Yakiniku (龍門燒肉) has a very clean, sleek design that draws in a night-time crowd, even during the daytime hours.
We liked how they used the containers both in the advertising and the actual restaurant, utilizing the boxes in almost every area. The staff is very friendly and really bend over backwards to satisfy the customers.
Just Kitchen is a popular franchise that offers a variety of different healthy food alternatives. Currently, they have a location in an outdoor container park complex, and it allows patrons to enjoy their dining experience in the fresh air.
The thing we noticed the most about their container were the solid iron I-beam supports, the metal staircases, and professional style roof. They really went the extra mile to give it that special touch.
Can you think of anything more terrifying that spending Halloween surrounded by Spooky Cargo Boxes? Naturally, we went to Owl Burger, the best Cheeseburger place in Taipei.
Let me tell you, it's been a mission of mine to find the an honest to goodness, real American Style Cheeseburger in Taiwan, and it's been a real challenge. However, when it's comes to the Owl Burger, there is no other shop in Taipei that can compare. Their cheeseburger is incredible!
Nestled in the middle of National Taiwan University, close to the heart of Taipei, is a quaint little cafe' called Soulba (稍飽台大店). Bustling with nature, it's adjacent to Drunken Moon Lake (國立臺灣大學醉月湖), which is a haven and natural habitat to a variety of bird species. As you walk the trails around the lake, it's quite common to see birds standing in the path, waiting to be fed by local residents.
Soulba is a great place to park yourself on a bench, enjoy nature, and scan the mobile phone or read a book. If you are in the area, go to the University library, walk around campus, or feed the birds. Afterwards, go to Soulba and enjoy a quick bite to eat and a hot coffee. It's the perfect ending to a pleasant afternoon.
This Cargo Fried Food Box, better known as Shihyaoden (四葉關東煮), is located in an area known for late night fare. Directly adjacent to Maverick Cubano's, another popular evening only grill, this shop is a hot spot for motorbikers who enjoy getting their food on-the-go.
Even though it's directly across from the LRT, we recommend that you make a drive there since it's in a hard to reach location (unless you're brave enough to cross a busy highway in the middle of rush hour).
A great place to pick up food if you live in the area. Another creative example of Cargo Box Cuisine.
It's 10 pm and you're looking for the perfect place to eat, but everything is closed. So, where do you go?
One magical location is the Maverick Cubano Cargo Box Cafe', located in the heart of Tamsui, right across from the Exit at Danjin Denggong LRT Station (淡金鄧公站). With a broadway sign and scenic night lighting, it has an ambiance that few can match.
With current hours from 3 pm to 1 am, they really cater to the after hours crowd. So, if you're into Cargo Box Shops and want to experience an outdoor-type atmosphere, go visit the Maverick Cubano Cafe'. It's a great place to sit back, relax, and hang out for one or two hours.
If you want to enjoy fine dining in a series of adjoining cargo boxes, then Listening 67 (林森67) is the answer for you. The food and drinks were fantastic, and the owner deserves praise for originality.
One of our favorite aspects of Listening 67 is the elevated, windowed cargo box overlooking the small pond. It's a very pleasurable feeling to be surrounded by light nature, with turtles and fish swimming below you while drinking and dining above. It's a unique cargo container ambiance at a very reasonable price.
There are also some artwork and sculpture installations that you can view outside. Sometimes you'll even see children feeding the aquatic life, which is something parents will enjoy. This is the ultimate Cargo Box Restaurant dining experience.
The NineTea (食久。茶事) Food and Drink Cafe' is an amazing place to visit if you like Cargo Box Style eateries. Obscurely located in a remote area of Taichung, NineTea is an unusual suburban oasis, nested in the heart of a quiet residential area, less than a 5 minute walk from the river.
On a rainy day, you can spend an afternoon securely tucked in a Cargo Box with a laptop and some hot tea. While on a sunny day, you can dine outside in an adjacent grassy field. It really is a relaxing place to meet friends or tap away on the tablet or phone.
So, if you are in Taichung's Dali District and looking for a different kind of tea shop, Nine Tea Cafe' is the place to go.
Don Show Buri (燒丼株式會社) is an authentic Japanese restaurant that serves cooked rice bowls, with everything from beef, chicken, eel, fish, lamb, and a variety of other delicacies.
They have several locations around Taipei, however, we chose the one in Songshan Station since it had a Container Box Style decor. Following the recent trend of many Taiwanese restaurants, they opted to replace the walls and bar with Container Walls and Doors. However, we still need to determine if they are genuine or just another example of Faux Cargo (fake Container Box materials).
Honestly, as far as we can tell, the only thing that can be considered as real cargo material is the Container Door in the back of the restaurant. It is the bare minimum to qualify for inclusion on this web site. The restaurant atomosphere is fresh and clean, and the design is top notch, so we commend them for choosing a Cargo Theme.
We've previously eaten at Don Show Buri's other location, and we've always enjoyed their food. However, we were surprised their newer restaurant chose the Container-style theme. It's quite interesting.
Tulip Time Out Hotdogs (戴帽熱狗堡) is absolutely, positively, one of the best Hot Dog eateries in Taiwan. Finding an American-style hotdog in another country is a harder task than people realize, but in this case, Time Out rises to the challenge.
As for the Cargo Box aspect of this shop, we focus mainly on their Cargo Bar, which at first glance looks pretty amazing. It's well constructed, and everything from the corners to the siding to even the colors seem like a perfect match. However, all is not as it seems.
For this is Faux Cargo, the term we use to describe artifically created materials to resemble what Cargo Boxes would look like. According to the owner, the Faux Cargo materials are 20% cheaper than the actual Container Box materials, which in today's shipping shortage inflation is a tremendous savings.
However, the owner was really honest about it, and he did a great job with the design. Plus, Tulip Time Out Hot Dogs (戴帽熱狗堡) are really out of this world. It's one of our favorite eateries in Taiwan.
Kushiyaki Restaurant (品 串燒くしやき) is one of the most special Japanese Restaurants in Taiwan. With all their food prepared in custom-made Cargo Boxes, they have taken the meaning of international cuisine to the next level.
Located in Nanliaobeike Park (南寮貝殼公園), adjacent to Old Nanliao Fishing Harbor (新竹南寮舊漁港), Kushiyaki has a separate Cargo Container that serves as a customer dining area. The food is amazing, and the atmosphere is about as unique it gets.
Yesterday, I was walking down the street and looking through shop windows when I came upon this incredible discovery. At first, I couldn't believe it, but after closer inspection, I realized that it was a Cargo Box Bar!
The name of the shop is the Basil Kitchen (蘿勒廚房), located in Taichung City, in an area that is surrounded by an oasis of restaurants and bars. It's a very busy street, and there's a lot of competition. That's why a lot of shops will do creative things to attract customers.
Here are some more pictures of the Amazing Cargo Box Bar at the Basil Kitchen (蘿勒廚房).
With limited options to eat in the center of National Taiwan Sports University (NTSU), the Millimetre Cafe' (毫米咖啡) is an oasis for a remote area filled with campus buildings and resident dorms. Just to be able to enjoy a special place to unwind after a grueling day of lectures and studying must be a godsend to students and faculty alike.
The thing we enjoy the most about the Millimetre Cafe' are the scenic views of trees and nature from every area of the shop. There are several parks within walking distance, and it's a nice romantic area for couples to visit.
On the 3rd stop of the Tamsui LRT (Danjin Denggong Station), there is a hidden gem that very few know about. It is called The Maverick Cubano, and it's a magical place. And the design on the Cargo Box Kitchen is a work of art.
Beer House (貨櫃) sounds like the title of a low budget National Lampoon movie. As with any B-level film, they even included bad plot devices, such as putting a Cargo Box Door in the middle a restaurant and naming it "Container", which is roughly the English translation of "貨櫃".
How can you call it a Container shop if you only have one single Cargo Door? If you search for "貨櫃餐廳" ("Container Restaurant" in Chinese) in Google Maps, Beer House (貨櫃) is always one of the top 5 listings. So, imagine our disappointment when we traveled over an hour to find their shop and only saw one single Container Box Door.
As for the restaurant, it had a standard "Beer House" atmosphere, and it seemed like a cool place to hang out for a while. However, we were mildly disappointed in the misrepresentation of advertising on Google. If you only have a single Cargo Box Door, you should not classify yourself as a Container Restaurant.
Popular as a late-night spot for large gatherings or just an intimate dinner for two, Overthere (在那裡) illimuniates the skyline from almost a mile away. With its bright lights emanating from spotlights and high powered lamps, there is a ultra-cool vibe that draws you into restaurant.
Located in Taoyuan, close to many shipping factories, it was the perfect place to integrate Cargo Boxes into their realm. With Cargo boxes stacked in several places, the outer rim has a second level that allows you to take in the city lights. It's really a romantic place in the evening.
Relatively close to the A10 Purple Line, it costs about 250 NT to travel from Taxi to their restaurant. Very convenient for those who live in Taipei, but are looking for an easier way to travel.
